Photo of Boulder

There are so many quotes about finding the light finding, finding the way, overcoming obstacles. But sometimes it can sound too easy, it can be a tease. It doesn’t help. Some personal as well as societal issues are big and complicated. One step can seem so small,

I offer this photo to show how a moment in nature can offer a reminder sign. Look for the light. In this case the sunlight acts a pointer. The sun is illuminating a spot in the distance. It acts as a lure to keep searching.

Even when that first step seems so pointless. The light in the distance can be a beacon.

The sunlight is reassuring. There is a choice, we can give up or we can persevere. That’s when I have to remember the one step is part of a bigger plan. Sometimes a sign helps. if I’m feeling overwhelmed or even depressed I can rationally know that the discipline of continuing will help me get unstuck and can even move me forward. But self-sabatoge my inner critic says that the one step won’t be enough, I imagine a huge blockage. I can feel disheartened - so why bother.there are too many steps.

TI yet hat’s when a sign, a nudge. something someone says reminds me to force self to do something. dare to persevere, It’s when I have to listen to the voice that says do you want to do this? Where will you be if you don’t take a step?

I like that this big boulder in the foreground could be seen as an obstacle. Yet, it's more than a pure obstacle. It is solid and heavy compelling and also shows stability be reassuring. It can remind me to be strong, hold energy. The path stops but the path winds but a walk around I can walk around it around it and heads again towards the light.

f I didn’t take a step forward, I would stay in a feeling of hopelessness, a feeling that everything was overwhelming to continue to have some sense of possibility, to keep us motivated, or just keep us going, daring to continue, wanting to continue. I.We can continue to take small steps on a new path, we can find ways to overcome obstacles on a path we’ve begun, we can choose to do something positive each day.

Ideas: join a group that is doing what you are doing, a group of artists, writers, social activists. Find the task you can do each day to move you forward, learn a skill, meet someone new, find the ideas that you want to research, find

Hyacinth - Protected while growing.

I love how this photo, it shows the determination of the hyacinth to thrust upward through the solitary leaf and pine needles.Rather than an obstacle for growth, these pine needles are a protective b
